Speaker 1:

Hi, friends, and welcome to Believe Like a Boss. I'm your host Life Coach, nandi Kamil. Join me as I teach you how to smash your goals and expand the possibility of your life through mindset management, spiritual alignment and authentic action. I'll teach you how to create what I like to call a life of thrive, with ease and authenticity. It's time to play with what's possible. Are you ready? Let's go.

Speaker 2:

Hello, hello, hello, my friends, and welcome back to another episode of Believe Like a Boss. I am your host, life Coach, nandi Kamil, and I'm so grateful to have you all back. I am so excited for this episode. I'm really grateful.

Speaker 2:

I feel like I've been getting these brain blasts of ideas lately, and my process for the podcast usually is when I get an idea to jot it down on a post-it note and then, if you follow me on Instagram, I've made little piles.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes I get little mountains of sticky notes throughout the week and then I'll spend probably about less than an hour processing those ideas in Mondaycom and organizing them and then from there, once I've organized my ideas for the podcast, I'll do titles and I'll know when I go back and I look at it as okay, this is what I want to talk about, this is the heart of the podcast. I'll go and do bullet points to kind of just lay out the theme of the podcast, where I want to go, so that I can stay on track. As a person that has ADHD, I can get sidetracked and I'm sure many of you, whether you're diagnosed or not, just have these moments and so, having that, that my brain's doing it right now having those bullet points is really, really helpful. Helps me to stay on track when I'm going through it.

Speaker 2:

But recently I've been really grateful. I've been getting these moments of just inspired moments where I don't actually feel like I need the bullet points, almost like what some people would call channeling. Don't use that word if it does not resonate with you. I know for some people that might freak you out, but take it if it does. It does feel that way sometimes, and so in this moment, what came to me was spending more time visualizing, imagining and thinking about your next level or highest self. I will often spend time thinking about my clients and thinking about what they need and thinking about how I'm going to help them next and what we're going to do to reach their next level goal, their big goal and the stepping stone to the big goal. And I'm thinking about them and their own needs. Some of them work full-time jobs, some of them do not. Some of them are their own boss. Some of them have no desire to be their own boss. They just would love to climb within the ranks of their company because they love what they do. They have a variety of goals, with all of them forward-focusing, forward-focused, and in that focus it's a who am I next? Who am I becoming next? What is that next level. It could be a dollar amount, it could be a raise, it could be an experience that they're looking for. Two, they want to book a trip somewhere. It could be that they are wanting to either mend a relationship or dating right, so they're wanting to cultivate a really connected romantic relationship, or they would like to reconnect in the relationship that they already have right. But there's a goal, there's something that we're focused on, and with that I think sometimes we think we'll just say it once. We know God knows that I want to meet the person and I want to get the raise right. It's on my vision board and I've written it down in my journal and it's on my list of goals, right, but have you spent time visualizing what it will actually mean to be there, what it means to be in that space?

Speaker 2:

And you all know I love to use children as an example, because I think that they're just wonderful at naturally being in alignment at all times. They just figure out how to get back into alignment very quickly. They don't really dwell on the past a whole lot. They bounce back. They're just really seeking fun. And with that, when a child is thinking about the future, when they're thinking about whether it's Christmas as their future reference and they're talking to Santa. They're thinking about what Santa's going to get them. Their children are very clear about what they want and if they're not clear yet, they will go and figure it out and get clarification and then they'll spend time.

Speaker 2:

I remember when I was a kid thinking about the thing that I wanted, thinking about how cool it was gonna be when I got it, or if my family was going on a family vacation, thinking about all the fun things. We still do this as adults thinking about what the vacation is going to be like, where we're going to go on the excursions, if we're gonna lay out the whole time or if it's gonna be more informational and we're gonna do a lot of walking tours. We start to visualize what it's going to be like to get there. It's really simple, I think, to do that when you've made the plans, when you have the itinerary, when you know you're going on the cruise. So of course I can visualize the mocktail I'm gonna have the walks, I'm going to go on whatever it is.

Speaker 2:

That can be a little bit more difficult when you're creating something you've never seen before, or maybe you've seen somebody else do it, but you haven't seen yourself do it right. You've seen somebody else build a blog and build a following and be an online social media content creator, and you see that it's possible in the world, but you've never seen yourself do it right. And so this is where the visualization comes in. This is where playing with our mind comes in. This is where we do the opposite. I love this quote by Dr Seuss worry is a misuse of the imagination. We do the opposite of worry and we use our imagination. We use desire. We affirm that the desires that are placed on our heart, the desires that we have to create and to do and to whatever it is, whatever has been placed on your heart is possible and, as such, if we believe that it's possible, let's go to that place where it's done, where we're doing it.

Speaker 2:

What are you doing there? Again, think about when you're going on that vacation. You're designing your vacation. You're saying I want to stay in this hotel, I want to stay here because it has this kind of lighting and it's near these sorts of restaurants. Right, go to your future life that way. I want to move to a state where I'm meeting lots of new people and they're really engaging and I'm nearby trails and those trails are really lovely and my job is nearby. It's really easy to commute there. I can just bike there, right. Get clear. This is what I do with my clients in our sessions. They say I want to be a rich woman. Nobody is actually that ambiguous. They're actually the women that are working are so very clear about what they want. I want to make a million dollar book of business, right, and so we go to that place where you're doing that thing. How are you going to show up differently than how you're showing up now? But visualize it, play with it, create the imagery. And create the imagery not from a should place this is what it should look like but from where you want it to look like. What do you want it to look like? What do you want your lifestyle to look like?

Speaker 2:

If you're building a business and your ideal is to be your own boss full time, you work for yourself, which means all of your bills are paid by your business and you can even pay for somebody else's salary because you have an assistant. You imagine having team members go to that place. Don't just say I want to be a boss that works for themselves. What does that mean? Do you have a team that you're managing? What does that look like day to day? Is it a virtual team? What kinds of people are you attracting to be on your team? Think about the Things that need to be put in place when you're bringing on a team. I need to have a onboarding right. What does my onboarding look like? And it's not about Putting pressure on yourself to create these things now, but it's just going to that place using your imagination In a way that serves you. What are all the things I might encounter when I get there? What are the things that I want to do when I get there? What do I think I'm going to experience when I get there? Design it, spend time in it, visualize it.

Speaker 2:

We already know studies have come out where, for the Olympics, olympians will visualize themselves. They will be in their home or in a training facility, far away from snow. The ski jumpers whoever is skiing all sorts types of sports Do this, but I'm gonna use ski jumping for the example. They will be in a training facility, warm, cozy, comfortable right, and they're visualizing being outside doing the ski jump, what it's going to be like to throw their bodies forward, what it's going to feel like to land, to be in the air, to execute really well and to feel really confident Visualizing it. There's been studies about people that are basketball drills right I've talked about this before where they had three different groups. I want to say and you can Google this but there is one group where they had to Visualize only those. They did no physical training, they only visualized doing free throws. And there was another group that did visualization and practice. It was like 30 minutes or an hour a day of free throws. And then there was another group that only practice physically right, and there was a significant improvement in those that also Visualized it.

Speaker 2:

So bring this concept Into your life when you're designing your life, when you're thinking about your next level self. What does that mean For me and for Tyler? There's, I just feel like there's always so much change going on as his life, and so now we're in the season he's in school, he's getting his masters. Right now I am getting into the next level of my business. We're thinking about building a family. I am so excited about that, and so when I think about that, it's okay. What is that next level version of me? What is the version of me who is a mom and a business owner. What does that look like? Right, what is the version of me who is hiring team members and has children and is a wife and is a friend? What is that next level? I don't know for sure. It's not about predicting the future, but it is about creating it.

Speaker 2:

When we're going from high school to wherever you're going to go next, we spend a lot of time doing this. At that stage, we visualize the college If we're going to go to a college, what college we're going to go to and what the colors are of the school. I don't know if you all were that in depth, but I was. I thought about the colors. I thought about the football games and visualizing myself at the football games and visualizing myself maybe in my residence hall or wherever it was. If you didn't go to college, maybe you visualize I'm going to be my own boss right now. I'm going to spend a few years just getting to know myself and you visualize what that meant. What is visual? Getting to know myself mean I'm going to work a job for a little bit. I'm going to get to know some people who are going to network. Don't lose that practice. Spend time visualizing. Your brain might say that's silly, you're just going to daydream. Daydreaming is so important. It's how we actively become a participant in our future.

Speaker 2:

Do you want to design your future or would you like to continue to react to what everybody's giving you? If you are the person that wants to create your future, you want to have a hand in the life that you have. You want to feel as though you it's not that we have complete control of our lives, we don't but you want to have influence on your life. You do want to choose the aspects of your life. There's so much in my life that I haven't chosen. There's so much that I really, truly have. I chose to move out to Colorado. I chose to fall in love. I chose that one day we were going to own a house, and that happened quicker than I thought. There's certain things that I've declared that I want, and instead of telling myself, oh, you're too young to do that, oh, you can't, who's going to listen to you? Your background is in education and in ropes. Course, there are lies that come up in your brain. Watch out for those. Notice those.

Speaker 1:

It may be lean in If it's imposter syndrome.

Speaker 2:

If part of your brain is saying I couldn't sell this because of XYZ what is that XYZ? Because I'm not an expert in it, then get curious what does it mean to be an expert in it? How do you become an expert in it? If your brain says I couldn't build my own business and lead a team because I don't know how to manage money? Okay, so that might be true for you right now, but go to the place where you are, the person where you manage money. What was the first step? Did you watch a YouTube video managing money? Did you take a course online? Did you ask your uncle's sister's best friend, who you know is an accountant? Hey, can I buy you a cup of coffee and just pick your brain about some basic accounting things that maybe I need to know when setting up my business?

Speaker 2:

Go to the version of you who has already completed the thing that you want done. Believe that you can have it and visualize it. Visualize as much as you can. And again, it's not to predict every detail of your life, but to be in the energy of the person who already has what you want when we're in that place. For those of you who are like this is too woo woo. Let me give you the neuroscience behind it. When you're in that place, you're in your prefrontal cortex, you're in your creative thinking space Versus. When you're in worry, you're more likely closer to or activating your fight, flight or freeze response. Where you're not taking any action, where you're spinning your wheels, where you're feeling overwhelmed and you keep changing your mind, you keep second guessing yourself. That is not the version of you that you see yourself become. And go to that version of you, visualize it, and it will take time. It's going to take. You might be able to very easily visualize who that is and how they show up. It does not mean it's gonna be easy to become that person right now. There is a version of myself that I see and I am incrementally moving towards her every single day, in the way that I show up and in the decisions that I make. And the way that I know that I'm moving towards that version of myself is by staying in contact with that version of myself, by visualizing that version of myself, by going to that version of me that has the things that I want, that has the business that I want, that has the family that I want, that is going on, the travel that I want, that is working with the aligned high level clients that I want. And I start to think okay, if that is my reality, how am I showing up? How am I making decisions? What decisions am I making? What kinds of things am I doing? How am I spending my time in a way that is in alignment with that best version of me? As I see it right, you design the best version of you based on how you see it. You get to design that. Nobody else I want you to visualize.

Speaker 2:

Spend time imagining and thinking about that version of you. What are the choices you make? How do you wake up in the morning? What are the habits you have? How did you build those habits? What kinds of friendships do you have? How do you spend your money? How do you feel and think about money? How do you feel and think about yourself at that level? Spend time visualizing it and if you need help my friends, you know this is my favorite thing to do Reach out nandikamilleasme to go ahead and just go.

Speaker 2:

Book your session, your discovery call. We can sit down, we can talk about this, about what's important to you, what might be getting in the way, or go to nandikamillecom where you can just learn more about coaching in general. Maybe you can see an event is coming up that speaks to you, that can serve you along this journey. In visualizing that future version of yourself and rewriting all of the limiting beliefs that say that you can't have it. Because that's all we're doing, we're closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be, never hating on where you are, because where you are is sacred and so important. I want you to download that. If nothing else, where you are right now is sacred ground. It's fertile ground. It is so important. Where you are, new things are being planted. By you turning on this podcast, by you opening that book, by you believing, by you daydreaming, you're planting the seeds. You're taking that step. Brava, keep leaning in, keep showing up, keep trusting yourself along this journey, keep rewriting those living beliefs, because that's all we're going to do along the way. This is what I want. Here's all the gunk that says that I can't have it, where I go to try something after declaring I want something and it didn't work out the way I want and now I'm telling myself that I can't get it. No, we clean that up. You can have what you want. You can have exactly what you want. It just might come in a different package and you anticipate it. That's a story for another time. But come to the heart of what you want. The heart of what you want.

Speaker 2:

My guess, my friend, is to feel loved, to feel like you enjoy the way you are showing up in the world. Whether you're a stay-at-home mom or you run your own business or you work for somebody, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you enjoy the way that you're showing up. It reminds me of a Maya Angelou quote. Its success is loving what you do, how you do it. And there's something else. I'm sorry I'm paraphrasing that, but it's a beautiful quote and it came up for me the other day. It's like loving how you do it, what you do and who you are. It's something on the side and I feel that I brought it up, but it's a beautiful quote. Go look it up. But at the heart of it, it's about you being clear about what you want and trusting that you can have it, and being on the journey of that creation process, loving where you are, because there's so many things.

Speaker 2:

My friend, I'm assuming, I'm guessing that you prayed for that you have now and, yes, there's more things that you want in the future but take stock, take inventory of what you have now. You wouldn't want those other things If you didn't have what you have right now. You needed to get to where you are to even envision what you want next. So continue to play with that vision. What you want next, what does it look like? What does it feel like a firm that it is yours, and then show up as if it's already time. Continue to take the steps.

Speaker 2:

I'm here to help you if you need support. I love you all so much. Take one six. You leave the rest. I'll see you next week. Hey friend, if you like this podcast, I would love it. If you give us a five star rating, share it with your friends, share it with somebody another girl boss babe that you know is grinding, showing up as her best self and can maybe use some support on her way.
